Citizenship
diversity and the public services Definitions Citizen: A legally recognized subject or national
of a state or commonwealth, either native or naturalized.
Citizenship: The position or status of being a
citizen of a particular country.
Diversity: The diversity of something is the fact that it contains
many very different elements.
The legal view of citizenship
is quite complicated for someone to be a citizen of a country there are
regulations and rules which have to be followed like a test. We have this in
the United Kingdom
so that people no abit about the background of the place they are wishing to
live. There are also a lot of variables whether you can apply to live in the United Kingdom
such as whether you have a relative that lives here. There’s quite a few things
which mean that you are not allowed to live in countries as Australia for an
example you have to be bringing something to their country which they value
they don’t want people to go over there and do something they already have in
quantity.
In my opinion the qualities
of a good citizen are quite easy to achieve and don’t ask to much of someone. I
believe that everyone should obey the laws that our country have put in place
for the citizens to follow as no matter how low you are in life you can still
change your life without breaking the law. Another key point I think good
citizens have is you are no longer in full time education then you should be
working. Unless of course you cant work for a valid reason such as illnesses or
a disability, as if you are able then there is a line of work in our country
for everyone there is plenty of jobs going you just need to find them and show
commitment. My last point is that good citizens should respect others views as
to me that’s very important even though you believe something it may not be the
same for others. Well the points I have made
of what a good citizen is are very beneficial for the public services and
society in respecting equality as for following the law that is part of the
public services. If you work in the public services its vital that your
following the law as they are seen as role models and people with authority to
the citizens of the United Kingdom. And for equality by following the law it
provides a spine for everyone if everyone was to the follow the law then every
one would be the same everyone respecting the manner of the law. Manners is
very important that its shown by members of the public service. A lot of
members believe they should be treated with a lot of respect if they are
showing good manners and showing respect to the general public then they will
be treated the same, treat people how you want to be treated. Good manners is a
great way to see equality as you feel more comfortable with someone if they are
treating you with respect and therefore you don’t think of them as higher or
lower than yourself.Racist: A person who believes that a particular
race is superior to another.
Racist people don’t have a
place in the 21st century as everyone is seen as equal not mattering
where you’re from or what your skin colour is but yet even in this day we still
see some people expressing these disgusting views on different races. This is
basically a white person or a coloured person believing they are better than
one an other but this isn't the case. Racists are in a huge minority now. As we
have a black president of the strongest nation in the world and we celebrate
different races. But yet we still have groups who express there horrendous
views a great example for a group of racists are the EDL all though they do
talk sense at time there overall view is just ridiculous and what they want to
achieve will never happen as the world is diverse and cultures and races mix
together all the time.
Equal
opportunity:
The right to be treated
without discrimination, especially on the grounds of one's sex, race, or age.
Basically meaning that everyone should all be given the same opportunities in
life no body should automatically get a certain job because of their race or
sex or age as that is discrimination. One great man fighted all of his life for
this he was Nelson Mandela the whole of his life he fort to give the people of South Africa
equal opportunity and he succeeded. As the world has progressed massively and
now it doesn’t matter who you are everyone deserves the chance to do what they
want to do in life no matter who they are.
Leicestershire is the only part of the united kingdom where there are more
Asians blacks and different ethnicity than white. This is what makes Leicester special. Why because people are welcomed and
excepted in this great part of England.
Yes we are not a massive county but we are the most diverse place to live and
that is a great thing we have people from all over the world all different
religions living working and learning with each other. Yes there is always
going to be problems as its human nature to have problems but day to day there
is no major problems in Leicestershire.
This census was taken in
2011 where whites were just ahead of the other ethnic groups now this has
changed and people living in Leicester have no
problem with this as long as everyone is legally living in the country than it doesn't matter. And Leicester has shown that
ethnicities can get along together all as one and I believe this makes
Leicestershire and the people living in Leicestershire stronger by having the opportunity to mix with
different backgrounds.

This pie chart
was created in 2009 and it shows that the majority of England and Wales is white but that’s only natural as white
people have in some circumstances lived in England
and Wales
for a longer period. The main thing is our country is a proud country and we
will accept other religions and ethnicities to live in England as they
have just as much right as we do. There are some places in America which
will not even consider having different ethnicities live in the same place as
them which in my mind is disgusting. Even after the problems England has had with Terrorism we
will still allow different ethnicities group to live here, just because a small
minority does something from an ethnicity group doesn't mean that whole group
is to blame. As England
has made mistakes which we have had to live with but in a whole we are diverse
country and we are proud to be diverse.
